LE A111 Kids, Teens and Popular Culture
Learning Goals of the LE
• Know the theoretical concepts of culture, lifeworld, identity, habitus
• Communicate with one child/ youth and try and understand the lifeworld
from his/her perspective
• Understand how the child/ youth interprets and reconstructs his/her
social reality outside of school
• Conduct a small ethnographic field study: get an insight into the lifeworld
of a child/ youth through a topic (TV, cartoons or teenzines, cyberspace
[internet, smartphone, gaming…])
• Learn about one qualitative research method (ethnography)
• Acquire knowledge about how to work scientifically
• Document field study according to scientific standards
