IUFRO’s Mission
IUFRO advances
research excellence and
knowledge sharing, and
fosters development of
science-based solutions
to forest-related challenges
for the benefit of forests and
people worldwide.
HOW DOES IUFRO WORK?
 IUFRO provides a global structure for science
cooperation related to forests and trees.
 Within this structure, member scientists from all
around the world collaborate on a voluntary
basis.
 The structure allows IUFRO to address
research needs and priorities of its members,
policy-makers, practitioners and stakeholders.

In 2015 ten new Task Forces were established.
IUFRO and Students
Longstanding collaboration with IFSA
IUFRO and the International Forestry Students’
Association (IFSA) have been gradually
intensifying their collaboration since 2002.
Since 2005 IFSA students have been
volunteering at major IUFRO events.
Student internships
IFSA students from all over the world have regularly spent
some months as interns at IUFRO HQ.
IUFRO/IFSA Joint Position
A new position hosted by IUFRO Headquarters in Vienna was
created in 2013.
“By sharing our networking experiences and integrating
the students' views, we can learn a lot from each other.“
