INTRODUCTION
Intercultural communication
@noun
Also known as cross-cultural
communication, it refers to the process of
conveying information and feelings, be it a
verbal or non-verbal interaction through
various mediums, from persons to persons
of two or more different cultures, with
which understanding of each other’s
distinctive set of values, customs, traditions,
beliefs, and thought patterns is important.

INTRODUCTION
We are studying about a workplace
communication issue with respect to
cultural differences.
01
We have employed secondary sources
winnowed out from the Internet and applied
appropriate research methodologies.
Our sample target is a local
commercial airline service.
A viral complaint letter pertaining to
the issue is used as a testimony to
the gravity of the matter.
Intercultural disputes occur when cultural
discrepancies are not considered within a
culturally diverse setting.
We have suggested numerous solutions
to overcome as well as prevent such
problem from arising again.

LITERATURE REVIEW
A literature review is a critical summary of research on a topic
of interest, often prepared to put a research problem in
context (Polit and Beck, 2008).
The type of literature review is thematic, i.e. we synthesized
and used information acquired from the Internet based
around this topic.
A complaint letter addresses the local airline services which
need improvement in terms of female cabin crew’s attires.

COMPLAINT LETTER
BY ‘AN AIRASIA PASSENGER FROM NEW ZEALAND’ REGARDING THE ATTIRE OF THE FEMALE FLIGHT ATTENDANTS
Literature Review
•
Technical & Professional Communication
A New Zealand passenger, Dr. June Robertson
purportedly wrote a complaint letter to a Malaysian
senator expressing her disagreement toward AirAsia’s
female flight attendants’ uniforms.
•
She felt disgusted by the female cabin crew wearing
“extremely short skirts”.
•
She also stated that the steward on the other hand
dressed appropriately and portray professional manner.
•
According to her, Malaysia is a respectful country, thus
cultural consideration must be given heed.

CONCLUSION
The process is not easy and it will take
time and effort.
Each party needs to play their part and
work together to solve the issue.
A small step of change made today may
bring about big advantages tomorrow.
Communication is the most important
thing.
Instill the knowledge from a young age and
continue to do so with time.
Remember that at any place, there will
always be people of different cultures
than you.
