Poultry sickness check list:
1. Check poop for worm, discoloring and consistency
2. Check lungs, listen to to lungs which are under wings for a crackling noise
3. Check inside mouth for sores and or a bad smell
4. Check for mites, most times u can find the rust colored mites above the vent but below the tail in a dip
5. Feel for egg bound if a hen, go right above the legs in belly and feel for a hard mass
6. Check for off balance or problems with legs
7. Check for injuries
8. Check for sneezing, coughing or bubbles from eyes or runny nose
9. Was the bird fluffed up and away from flock
10. Check legs for mites which u will see there scales deformed
11. Check temp normal is 103-105
12. Check the uropygial gland or the preening glad the nub near the basis of tail to see if its flogged
13. Look at the belly from back veiw is the belly enlarged and red ( its called ascites or waterbelly which
means bad liver)
14. Check for swelling in joints
15. Do they have a twisted neck or head
16. Are they stretching neck out or have a limber neck
17. Any discharge from beak or nasal
18. Any drops in egg production
19. Feel for abscesses
20. Any bumps on comb or waffles
21. Any seizures
22. Check for big spots of missing feathers
23. Smell in beak for sour or impacted crop
24. Any swelling in combs and waddles
25. Any moisture under wings
26. Any chance of toxins/ poisions or stale water they could have gotten into
27. Any grey in iris of the eye
