SAMPLE CONCLUSIONS FOR OUTLINES

1. To conclude, music is a very influential aspect of the Jamaican culture which aims to
entertain the population. However, dancehall music has manipulated female identity
through explicit sexual imagery, the promotion of violence against women, and the
portrayal of what is deemed to be an “ideal” body image in more recent times. The
manipulation of female identity by dancehall music is mostly evident in the music videos
as well as the lyrical content of the songs. Dancehall music has been around and will be
around for many years to come, therefore females are not expected to live their lives
according to the lyrical content of music but to control their identity as individuals with
equal values.
2. In order to limit the number of African-American men diagnosed with advanced stage
cancer it is of great necessity that programs be implemented to educate them about this
disease. Medical doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals should create a
comfortable environment where especially young males can talk openly on the issue.
Additionally, there should be more awareness programs geared towards rural
communities where this information is not readily available. When diagnosed these men
should seek the best treatment options and do their best to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
3. The roles of women in 21st century Jamaican families have evolved over the years. The
role of women as housewife, wife and mother has deteriorated within the home as a result
of the exposure of women to formal education, which increases women’s awareness and
prepares them for work outside the household. The employment of women results in their
absence from the home, which proves disadvantageous to the family. However, for
families that do not have the financial support of men, the employment of women is what
keeps the family alive. Despite this great revolution of women, families need the support
of men; as women need companionship, emotional and financial support and children
need a father. Therefore, men need to advance and share the roles of women in order to
maintain equilibrium within the household.
4. Though not a panacea for all the ills in the Jamaican education system, teachers’ use of
computers in instruction at the secondary level can enhance their methodologies in order
to increase effectiveness and efficiency.“Indicators attest to the fact that new technologies
can help in restructuring classrooms with activities to promote collaboration and can
provide effective tools for interpretive skills, information management and open inquiry”
(Barron and Orwig, 1997, p.9).The combined efforts of teachers, The Ministry of
Education and Youth and all other stakeholders in the education system can help to make
computer use in instruction a revolutionary mechanism to meet the learning needs of
students at the secondary level. Given the current wave of technophilia in the Jamaican
society and the world at large, exposure to the computer, through its use as an educative
tool at the secondary level is essential for fostering meaningful, lifelong learning in
students, preparing them for the global market place.
5. In conclusion, though remittances are the usual expectation of the international migration
of working class Jamaicans, it is observed that foreign direct investments and increased
trade are also additional contributors to Jamaica’s economy. These help to stimulate
economy growth in Jamaica by alleviating poverty, creating employment and
entrepreneurial opportunities and increasing educational attainment.
6. In concluding, if the government along with the Ministry of Health continues to
effectively combine the different mediums of preventing and manage lifestyle diseases
and teach person healthy eating habits in Jamaica; then the country could see a significant
reduction in lifestyle disease cases. To ensure that these practices are maintained the
ministry should continue to promote healthy living, advertise causes and effects of
lifestyle diseases and how to deal with the various types of these illnesses and also find
additional ways to monitor and help persons suffering from various lifestyle diseases to
ensure they live longer.
7. Terminal illnesses affect many persons worldwide resulting in the terminally ill patient
and love ones grieving. Since it is clear that anyone can be affected by a terminal illness,
it means therefore that everyone should plan in case he or she is faced with a diagnosis of
the illness. Patients can plan for a terminal illness by being mentally prepared, financially
prepared and being knowledgeable about the facts which will result in the patient feeling
comfortable hence will prevent the severity of the illness
A CONCLUSION IS ESSENTIALLY THE TOTAL RESULT OF YOUR DISCUSSION
OF THE THREE POINTS IN YOUR THESIS. DO NOT SIMPLY RESTATE THE
THESIS. ASK YOURSELF, “WHEN I LOOK AT THE THREE POINTS I HAVE
DISCUSSED, WHAT AM I SAYING SHOULD BE DONE BY WHICH PARTICULAR
MEMBERS OF THE AUDIENCE (NAME GROUPS SPECIFIC TO THE CONTEXT)
TO FIX THE ISSUE IF IT HAS NEGATIVE CONSEQUENCES OR CONTINUE THE
ISSUE IF IT IS GOOD?”
