Course title: 12th Grade Internships
Course Description:
Instead of doing work times and extracurricular, all 12th grader students are required to complete
an internship on campus. This is an opportunity for you to play leadership roles, develop valuable interpersonal
skills, and make positive contributions to our community during your final year of schooling. Internship is three
hours class and counts around10% of your GPA. All of you will receive the GPA boost that is usually reserved
for the A class, so this is an excellent opportunity for you to boost your grades if you do well on your
internships. You are expected to spend 4 hours a week doing your internships. Time commitment of internships
may vary, so some students may have only one big internship role which requires weekly commitment of 4
hours or two smaller ones that combined require 4 hours of time commitment.
Each one of you will have at least one faculty advisor who will guide you and evaluate your progress. It is your
responsibility to communicate with your advisor regarding the duties of your internship. While getting guidance
and advice from your advisor, you are expected to take charge and use your initiatives.
Failure to complete any of your duties without being excused by your advisor or Farhan will result in a CUV for
skipping, and will negatively affect your grade. Failure to complete duties to an adequate standard will
negatively affect your grade. At all times during the duration of your internship you must abide by the school
rules. If you are unsure of what the ‘school rules’ entail please refer to the Student Handbook, ask Farhan, or
your advisor. You will be responsible for all school materials that you use in the course of your internship. You
must keep track of them and ensure that they are using them properly. If something is lost or broken due to
negligence it may negatively affect your grade.
Grading Components:
 Advisor feedback – 50%
 Monthly reflections – 25%
 Monthly check-ins– 25%
Advisor Feedback –Each week, your advisor will submit a performance evaluation regarding their level of
satisfaction with your work. If you have two roles in your internship and two different advisors, both of your
advisors will submit performance evaluation and the average of the two evaluations will be inputted into the
grade link. You will be evaluated on your organization/preparation, communication, work ethic and level of
engagement.
Monthly Check-ins– Each month you must have a 15 minutes check-in with Farhan. The purpose of the checkin is to monitor and discuss your performance from the previous month and your plans for the upcoming one.
Monthly Reflections – Each month, you will be required to submit a reflection report on what you
accomplished that month, what challenges you had, and what goals you have for the next month. Your work
will be checked and graded by Farhan. You have to submit your monthly reflection report during your monthly
check-ins.
