SAP recommends settings that facilitate the problem-free maintenance of bank
master data and the maintenance of the International Bank Account Number (IBAN).

Reason and Prerequisites
The IBAN is used more and more frequently in payment transactions, and business
partners increasingly quote the IBAN instead of national bank details.
Solution
This is an overview of the recommended settings for countries in which the IBAN
is already used. You can enter these values in transaction OY17 ("Country Field
Checks").
This SAP Note also specifies how to enter the bank details in the customer
master record, vendor master record or business partner master record, or how to
generate or derive the bank details from an IBAN. Possible deviations in other
applications are to be described in a separate SAP Note.
Note that you should not use the derived IBAN and the data that is generated
from the IBAN in the payment transaction without obtaining a validity
confirmation from the account holder. In countries where only the IBAN is used
(for example, Bulgaria, Latvia, Lithuania, or Luxembourg), the account number is
generated for internal purposes only and cannot be used directly in payment
transactions.

application, the settings for overlong account numbers described in SAP Note
1955708 for the country Qatar must also be made for the country Palestine.
