Student
Eligibility
Research Summer Students are selected for research training (basic science or
clinical) under the supervision of a scientist at SickKids. All students are eligible to
apply, with the exception of graduate students (Master’s and/or PhD).
Program Start
Date
The SSuRe Program curriculum officially starts on April 29, 2019 and ends after
Symposium Day on August 13, 2019.
Stipend Amount
$14/hour + 4% vacation pay for the duration of the research training period. Research
Summer Students will be paid biweekly through payroll.
Research Summer Students are encouraged to participate in the SSuRe Program
curriculum, which includes:

Weekly Seminar Series, weekly from June 6 – August 1

Symposium Day – August 13
1. A list of scientists with posted positions is available online at SSuRe Program Jobs
Postings. Many scientists hire summer students but do not post specific positions.
Please contact those scientists directly about Research Summer Student
positions. See a list of scientists here.
2. Research Summer Students must apply to the scientist directly. Human
Resource Services or the Research Training Centre will not accept applications to
the program. Please submit:

Note: PDF documents submitted using the Portfolio setting will not be accepted.
Deadline to
Apply
The deadline for students to submit their applications to posted Research Summer
Student positions is January 31, 2019. After this date, students are able to inquire with
scientists directly about Research Summer Student positions. See list of scientists
here. Student may apply to scientists without posted positions at any time.
Students are encouraged to apply as early as possible. Scientists are free to select
their students for the program at any time. Most selections will be made many weeks
before this final deadline.
Due to the high volume of applications received, only those students selected for an
interview will be contacted.
