It’s All in the Bible
August 13, 2008
It’s all in the Bible. Is this a true statement? Are those who claim the Bible contains everything we need for
life and godliness truthful? If these are questions you have ever pondered, put the Bible to the test. Whatever
your ailment, whatever your concern, whatever your need may be search the Bible and see if the answer lies in
the biblical pages.
There are no books in the world that have carried such a profound impact as the Bible. Though there have been
books which have been helpful, no book carries the life changing power that is displayed in the lives of those
who follow the Bible. The Bible has answers for life, liberty, godliness, drugs, alcohol, sorrow, neighbors,
family, righteousness, joy, and all other areas of life. When questions concerning life arise we can
wholeheartedly affirm, “It’s all in the Bible.”
In appearance, the Bible is a big book, but not overwhelming. When placed on a shelf with other books, it may
be dwarfed by larger volumes, be hidden by clutter, or collect dust as often happens to books upon shelves.
Yet, when the Bible is opened, read, and the words thereof applied, something happens. That which happens is
not mystical or magical, but the work of God, as He Himself said in Isaiah 55:10, 11, “For as the rain cometh
down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and
bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my
mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the
thing whereto I sent it.” God’s Word is able to be so powerful because the Author is Divine. Since the Author
of the Bible is God, when problems arise and we need answers we affirm “It’s all in the Bible.”
Since the Bible was sent from God, we must ask, why was it sent? The Bible was sent to convert sinful men
and women to righteousness (2nd Timothy 3:16, 17; 1st Peter 1:15, 16). What is sin and who is sinful? Sin is
anything we think, say, or do that does not bring glory to God. When we are honest with ourselves, we see
Romans 3:23, “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,” to be true. In a world with sin we are
faced with pain, torment, temptations, trials, loss, and death. When we are broken and at the end of our being
and our minds are flooded with questions, though there are many places we may search for contentedness,
happiness, relief, joy, and answers, we must remember: it’s all in the Bible.
