HOW TO MAKE AN ISN? 1) Create a front cover that represents the subject of class. Use images from old magazines or printed from the internet. The cover should be completely covered with words or images that represent the subject. 2) Starting with the first page, number the first 10 pages. Number should be at the bottom outside corner of every page. Allow students to create a collage of images and words to express who they are. Be lenient here and avoid dictating how it should look. As long as the images and words are not inappropriate, anything goes. This page is meant to be free expression and to engage students in the notebook. The student puts the date on the top line of each page. 3) Next, Safety Guidelines and ISN Instructions are pasted on page 2 and 3 respectively. 4) Table of Contents is written on the next two pages, 4 and 5. This part has a specific format. Date Content Page Score 5) Sample Evaluation Sheets are pasted on page 6 and 7. 6) On page 8, Assignment Completion Check table is written. 7) Grading Period and GEMS OF WISDOM is on page 9. This page will be a crucial resource. This is where students will record important definitions, concepts diagrams and other important information. This page could be used for review.
