Illustrators Deathmatch International is a great visual event that brings
together the best graphic artists worldwide to showcase their skills live
and lecture about their career.
This event includes a competition for emerging illustrators. These
illustrators will compete to demonstrate the best of his talents in a battle
of epic proportions, a battle in which only one illustrator is the winner.
Conferences, live digital demonstrations, portfolio reviews, workshops
and lots of talent will be brought together at this event.

IDM (Illustrators Death Match) in Brief
Illustrators Death Match :
Illustrators Deathmatch was founded in 2011 as the
first Congress focused on digital art and illustration in
Mexico, to promote and motivate the above
disciplines, not only nationally but on an international
level. The entry form for speakers consists of two
main parts: Conference and Live demonstration, two
add-ins that enhance the growth of new artists
seeking a rapprochement and personal guidance with
speakers; reviewing portfolios and private sessions as
appended.
The last day is dedicated for the ‘Death
Match’, a drawing competition of new
artists. The preliminary round will qualify
16 artist for the finals, which select the
final winner with the speakers as judges
by presentation and Q&A.
The winner of the Deathmatch receives
both a prize and monetary award, and
will get the chance of next year’s IDM
invitation as a speaker.

The IDM Conference
The Conference ／ LiveDemo :

Each guest artist talks about their experiences in their
professional life, from origins to the present, what they
have learned and how their perspective as an artist has
evolved, along with future projects.
Furthermore, the guest artist presents a work live, through
methodological explanation, real time demonstration of the
technique, and concept development process.

The Death Match (Competition)
The Competition :
200 preliminary round participants from all applicants for
the ’Death Match’ get the theme of the year in the morning
of the 3rd day and work on drawings either digitally or by
hand within 4.5 hours. The panel of judges (guest speakers)
announce 16 finalists who will be cut to the final winner by
live presentation tournaments.

The Death Match (Competition)
I had the great pleasure of being able to participate in the
"Illustrator Deathmatch" contest, an excellent event dedicated
100 percent to the illustrations. 45 illustrators created their own
piece with the theme " The Fight Club "and 5.5 hours to do it,
Great !!!, I must say that it was an exaggerated enrichment, I
finally met several colleagues, new friends and also the great

Collaborative Mural Work :
Friendship Trip Documentary :
- Invited artists create a remarkable, collaborative work
together. This collaboration, will be a large, holistic, and
multidisciplinary approach for city branding and
donated under various artists & sponsors.
- Before the main event, available artists and
hosts take a trip to several traditional destinations
in Korea. The companionship trip with bonding
artists will be filmed, as a documentary, and used
for ‘Visit Korea’ and promoting various sponsors.

Speakers, Attendees and Contenders
The Speakers :
8 speakers are top class artists from various fields
including concept artists , illustrators, character
designers working in animation, advertising, game,
movie and theme park industries. Each guest artist
will talk about his/her own experiences from
beginnings to the present, what he/she learned
from their career, and what his/her perspective is,
and what their future plans will be.
The Contenders :
Aspiring artists, designers, and students join as the
‘death match’ contenders. 16 finalists from the 200
preliminary round participants will reach the final
tournaments, with the winner as the survivor of the
‘death match’, who will be speaking at the next IDM
event.
Attendees :
Artists, designers, students, teachers and relative
industry professionals in North East Asia. Art fans
are also welcome to attend as part of the audience.

The Founder & IDM Seoul Organizer

The Organizer : Gary Koo
Nestor started his own digital design company Goho
Studio, after graduating from Universidad Autónoma
Gary is a multidisciplinary design & marketing
professional. He majored architecture in Hanyang
de Querétaro graphic Design Dept. Since founding
Illustrators Death Match in 2010, it has continued to

marketing agency for more than 10 years. Now he’s
grow as an international festival for illustrators and
entertainment designers.

The Host
The Host : Sakiroo Choi
His work has been described as a “multitude of illustrations
and cartoons full of color and extravagance”, "inspired by
cartoons and manga," influenced by "Asian themes”, and
combining "hand-drawn illustrations with digital coloring —
using his own color theory."
He is one of most popular character artist with his ‘yellow
lemon’ and soccer players characters. In addition his
Behance.net fandom led to him speaking at IDM Mexico in 2013,
invitation to Comic-con’s ‘Big Bang Theory’ theme art exhibition
by Warner Bros., and become Adobe’s first Korean ‘New Creative’
in 2014. In the same year, he also won Grand Prix at Dubai Lynx
International Advertising Festival. He has been asked to join
many international art exhibitions, commercial projects,
conferences and media, including magazines & TV programs.
His new autobiography, ’Sakiroo Breaking’, details his path on
becoming an artist. Kim Byung-joon of E-Daily News said, "The
depth of the message is deep because it crosses over material
such as philosophy, history, culture, art, and education.
