FLPL 13672 Field Preparation: SSW Learning Contract (15%) Guidelines and Expectations Students enrolled in the Field Preparation Course are expected to prepare and submit a learning contract in preparation for searching and securing a practicum. This will be used as a guide to support students in preparing for the field. The purpose of this assignment is to prepare students to have an understanding of how to complete a Learning Contract, as this is a required evaluation tool that will be utilized by students, supervisors and field liaisons in practicum in terms 3 and 4 of the Social Service Worker Program. When completing the learning contract, students must identify strategies/resources and tangible evidence of accomplishment that align with the achievement of each learning objective. The Learning contract is to be typed, and when submitting completed assignment, a title page and all required rubrics must be attached. Learning contract consists of 5 sections: Learning Objectives, Strategies/Resources, Evidence of Accomplishment, Target Date and Date Completed. Learning Objectives: The learning objectives are defined for all students in the SSW Program, by Sheridan College, therefore please do not change the Learning Objectives. Students are expected to create Strategies/Resources and Evidence of Accomplishment for each outlined Learning Objective. Strategies/Resources: A strategy/resource involves how you plan to complete each learning objective. Refer to learning activities/action step(s) that student will take to accomplish the learning objective. One strategy/resource/learning activity is required per learning objective. Student will use format “I will…” to express what Strategy/Resource will be used to achieve each learning objective. Complete sentences are required. Evidence of Accomplishment Refers to student providing clear, concrete and tangible evidence which demonstrates that the student has met the Learning Objective through completion of Strategy/Resource. Student will use the format “I will provide or I will submit …” and outline tangible evidence in complete sentences. This is a linear process: Student must understand Learning Objective, create a strategy/resource to achieve objective, which will result in the creation of one piece of tangible evidence of accomplishment (per learning objective). Learning Contract: Field Preparation, Revised Winter 2019 Please note, you are not required to submit evidence in this course, however when completing this section, it is imperative to provide examples of TANGIBLE evidence – as this may be required for submission in practicum in terms 3 and 4. Target Date: Refers to projected timeline of when student will aim to provide tangible Evidence of Accomplishment; this will take place by achieving the learning objective. Students must indicate a target date for completion for each learning objective. Please ensure that there is a natural progression of learning throughout the term, thus, students are expected to stagger target dates throughout term 2 – as learning objectives are expected to be achieved during the duration of this course (weeks 1-14). Learners should aim to complete an average of 1-2 learning objectives per week. All Learning Objectives must be met by the end of the term. Date Completed: Timeline to indicate that student has accomplished the learning objective. Although evidence in this course will not be formally submitted; please note that this skill is important to practice for terms 3 and 4 in practicum. Dates of completion on learning contract should be stated as so: Week 1, Week 2, Week 3, etc. This assignment is due week 6, therefore if you have achieved a learning objective, then complete the date completed column; if you have not yet achieved/completed a learning objective, then leave this column blank. Signature Section: Student must complete this section by providing signature and date prior to submission of assignment to Professor. Submission Guidelines: The Learning Contract Assignment requires an APA formatted title page, that includes: Title of Assignment, Title of course and course code, Student’s name, Field Preparation Professor’s Name, date of submission, and Sheridan College – as the named academic institution of enrollment. Please see sample of APA Formatted Title page on SLATE, under APA Resources and Samples Folder. Ensure to number all pages of the assignment – in APA formatting. Review for spelling, grammar and proper APA referencing prior to submission. See the Professional Writing Standards Rubric provided on SLATE for more details. Attach all rubrics including the Standard Writing and APA rubric when submitting completed assignment. One submission is required for each student, as this is an individual assignment, via the SLATE dropbox. Due Week 6.
