FAB 40+ Golden Ticket Competition Opportunities
The FAB 40 is an annual networking event held in Vancouver. Students must compete to win “Golden Tickets” to this
event. This year we will award a total of 50 TICKETS to students. Opportunities to win Golden Tickets are as follows:
Elevator Pitch (In class) – 2 winners per class in all MBA 579 classes for a total of 16 tickets
Community Engagement – 7 tickets
For those students who have shown dedication to community involvement, we would love to hear more about your
activities. Students are to submit a one page application which answers the following question: “How have you engaged
with the community during your time in the MBA program?”
Submissions will be judged by a panel based on the following criteria:

Quality and impact of your participation
Time commitment
Personal motivation and interest
Please note that we are allowing some creative freedom to explain how you meet the above criteria. You will notice that
the due date is not until June so this will give you some time to get involved in the community, volunteer and compile
your experience.
Completed submissions are to be submitted as an attachment to David.Woodward@viu.ca . Due date for submissions is
May 31st at 4:00 p.m.
Professional Development (In class) – 6 tickets
The Professional Development Golden Tickets are for those students who have gone above and beyond to develop
themselves professionally during the MBA program. This could include the following (and more): joining competitions,
conferences, professional associations or activities, completing certifications, conducting research, joining innovative
projects or programs.
Students are to submit a one page application which answers the following questions: “What are your professional
goals? How have you developed yourself professionally, outside of classes, during the MBA program? What are the
results of your efforts so far?”
Submissions will be judged by a panel based on the following criteria:

Clarity of goals and intentions
Level of activity and engagement
Results and impact of actions
Please speak clearly to each of the above criteria in your submission. Be concise – 600 words maximum.
The due date is not until May 31st to give you the maximum amount of time to get active and start seeing the results of
your professional development activities.

SHIFT Multicultural Business Tea for best set-up, the whole table team will win tickets. – 3 to 5
Judging Criteria:
Three roving mystery judges will compile their scores for the best table at the Multicultural Tea based on:

Appearance of team’s table (setting, decoration, uniqueness)
Professional and/or ethnic dress of team
Employer(s) invited by team and welcomed at the door
Engagement of all team members at the table (conversation, sharing of duties)
Tea/ snack provided and served at team table
Each category will be given a score out of 5 for a total of 25 points

Coordinator Pick – 8 tickets
