TYPES OF CYBER CRIMES • Phishing-using fake email messages to get personal information from internet users; • Misusing personal information (identity theft); • Hacking: shutting down or misusing websites or computer networks; • Spreading hate and inciting terrorism; • Distributing child pornography; • Grooming: making sexual advances to minors. HOW TO PREVENT CYBER CRIME • Use anti-virus software • Never send money or give out your details when you do not know/trust the person or company you are giving them to. • Destroy personal information, shred documents, credit cards etc. • Log directly onto a website rather than clicking on the link provided. • Never reply to spam emails, even when you're trying to stop them. • Always remember: scammers are cunning and clever. They know how to manipulate you to produce the response they want. TIPS FOR ONLINE SAFETY Always different passwords for online accounts. Check websites security. Be careful of links and attachments in e-mails. Anti-virus software. UNDERSTANDING OF CYBER CRIME • The main aim of the crime is to gain access to private or confidential information from people. • It knows no boundaries, be it physical or virtual, hence gets to harm the victims, and posse threat to them. • It encourages organized crime • It affects many people across the globe. OVERVIEW • Cybercrime gets primarily associated with hacking, spanning, and even phishing. • Some types of offenses related to cybercrime include identity theft, online bank info theft, and online rapacious crimes and illegal computer installment and blocking of the authentic computer operator from accessing their computers. • The above get used to commit crime against governments, business ventures, and facilities, and on some occasion, they get used to commit online crimes against the targeted individual.
