LCM Word Problems
Solve each of the following, using the method of your choice, showing all
work!!!
1. The bells at two schools ring on different schedules. One bell rings
every thirty minutes, the other every forty-five minutes. If both
bells ring at 8:00 AM this morning, what time will it be when both
bells ring again at the same time?
2. Aimee spent the same amount of money on CD’s and DVD’s. If DVD’s
cost $16 and CD’s cost $12, what is the least amount of total money
she could have spent on BOTH purchases?
3. Marla and Omar are running laps around the same track. Marla can run
one lap in 8 minutes but it takes Omar 12 minutes. If they both start
at the same place, the same time, and run in the same direction, at
what time will they first pass each other?
4. Pencils come in packages of 24. Erasers come in packages of 60.
Daniel wants to purchase the smallest number of pencils and erasers
so that he will have exactly one eraser per pencil. How many total
pencils will Daniel end up purchasing?
