University of California campuses receive no tuition or state
funding to support parking facilities. Parking fees cover the
costs of construction, operation, maintenance, and administration of parking facilities. Plan to park at UCSD, you must
purchase and display a valid parking permit during these hours:
• Main campus — 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. weekdays
• Scripps Institution of Oceanography — 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
7 days a week
• Medical Center Hillcrest — 24 hours/ 7 days a week
• Medical Center La Jolla — 24 hours/ 7 days a week

Transportation & Parking Services subsidizes free,
unlimited rides on transit bus routes serving campus and the
medical centers. Students, staff and faculty ride free with a
Free Bus Zone sticker affixed to a valid UC San Diego ID.

Transportation & Parking Services operates an extensive
network of free shuttles serving UCSD and the adjacent
community, including holiday airport shuttle service. For detailed

Transportation for People with Disabilities
UC San Diego faculty, staff and students with disabilities can
arrange free, convenient campus transportation. This
year-round service operates from 7:10 a.m. to 6:10 p.m. weekdays on the La Jolla campus only, with limited service during
academic breaks. Wheelchair-accessible vans and electric carts
transport eligible disabled persons to more than 100
ADA-compliant campus locations.

Motorist Assistance Program
The Motorist Assistance Program (MAP) is a free service that
assists stranded drivers who require any of the following minor
vehicle problems:
• Battery jump
• Lockout assistance (standard locks only)
• Low tire inflation

Rideshare Programs
UCSD Rideshare Operations offers a variety of programs and
incentives designed to reduce traffic, parking congestion, and parking
expenses for all commuters.
• Bicycles: The Pedal Club offers incentives to commuters
who cycle to UCSD.
• Carpools: Two or more commuters can register their carpool
and receive additional benefits.
• Car-Sharing program: Faculty, staff and students may drive
Flexcar vehicles for business or personal use.
• Public Transit: The Transit/ Coaster Club offers incentives to
commuters who take public transportation to campus.
• Ride-Matching service: A ZIP code matching system
connects commuters who travel from the same community to campus or medical centers.
• Triton Bikes: This recycled bikes program turns abandoned
bicycles into environmentally responsible and accessible campus transportation.
• Vanpools: UCSD faculty, staff, and student employees are
eligible to join campus or Medical Center vanpools.
