Course Description & Content
The course is to help the students appreciate the field of Systems Engineering & Engineering
Management (SEEM) as a profession. The emphasis is placed on understanding knowledge that is
complement to a formal SEEM training.
Learning Outcomes
At its completion, the students should understand the field of Systems Engineering & Engineering
Management, know how to plan for and develop their career, and make ethical decisions.

Reference materials will be provided in the lecture notes and reserved in the University’s library. URLs to
videos showed in the lectures are also included in the lecture notes. These videos are only available for
viewing on the campus network only.
Assessment Scheme (Pass or Fail)

12 Talks (1 point per talk)
A 1,000-word Essay (individual work)
 The topic of the essay will be provided by the instructor.
 You must submit your essay to Veriguide. I will download it directly from there. 2%
penalty per hour applies to a late submission.
 You must attend at least 7 talks and get at least 2 points for the essay to obtain a PASS
for the course.
