Lozano Lesson Plan: Introduction On Narrative Text
Standards and Objectives/Learning Target
Prior knowledge activation
6.7.3.3 Write narratives and other creative texts to develop real or
imagined experiences or events using effective technique, relevant
descriptive details, and well-structured event sequences.
Begin with a discussion on different kinds of
creative text. Specifically bring up short
stories, chapter books, poems, and comics.
Students will be able to write a narrative text that is well-structured
and establishes a context, and characters for the reader.
Students will be able to use transition words to transfer from one scene to
another and form a logical conclusion to their narrative
Introduction/Anticipatory set Standards
The Students will get into pairs and talk about their favorite stories
and discuss why they are their favorite
Have the pairs list their favorite books, stories, comics, and
characters
Purpose
The purpose is to help students become
stronger narrative writers and be able to
decide on the structure of a story
Presentation/Modeling/Checking for understanding
Adaptations for diverse learners
There will be a short slide show presentation talking about the
different aspects of a narrative story. Each slide will begin with a
question such as what is
Printed off copies of the slides that students
can keep and write notes on to help remember
later.
As a class the students will with the guide of the teacher on the
PowerPoint arrange a list of sentences that can be put together to
make a short story.

Adaptations for diverse learners
In the pairs from earlier students will be given a worksheet That has
another group of sentences that can be put together to form a short
story.
Instead of having to write the full sentences
the worksheet will have an option where the
sentences are numbered.
Closure
Have the whole class come together to talk about the way that they
arranged the sentences to create a story and why.
Then as a class brainstorm a list of situations that could make fun
short stories to write.
Assessment
Adaptations for diverse learners
Collecting the worksheets from the partners will be the formative
assessment to see how the students are understanding the structure of
a short narrative.
The sentences can be put in order by number
and turned in that way.
