3rd Six Weeks Geometry Project Transformations One-Pager In this project, you will develop a one-pager which demonstrates your mastery of the concepts of geometrical transformations. You will choose a picture or shapes and perform various transformations on the picture or shape. You must perform at least on each of the following: Reflection Translation Rotation Dilation You will need to label each of the transformation and describe what you did to achieve the transformation. For example, for your translation you would describe how you moved the image left or right and up or down. For a rotation, you would describe which direction you rotated the image and the approximate angle used. In addition to the picture/shape transformations, you need to develop a short story that goes along with or supports your transformations. Examples of short stories might be “Tommy Triangle Sees the World” – in which you transform various triangles; “Draco Malfoy Loses the Snitch” – in which the Snitch eludes Malfoy; or, “Vacationing at the Lake” – in which a family observes sunsets at a mountain lake. Be creative, but relate your story to your chosen picture/shape. Use color and background graphics to decorate your one-pager in keeping with your theme. So, if you are using the Snitch, you will want to decorate with a Hogwarts or Quidditch pitch background. If you are using a mountain lake, stick with an outdoors or cabin theme. An excellent way to achieve this is using scenes from your short story much like a children’s storybook. Extra Credit: You can earn 10 extra points on your project (major grade) by using your on-pager to decorate a new, unopened box of Kleenex. You can do this by drawing on the box directly or by cutting out the elements of your one pager and gluing them to the sides of the box.
