MAKE UP EXAMS AND MISSED EXAMS DUE TO ILLNESS Read the syllabus about make-up exams and how missing an exam due to illness is handled. PERMITTED DURING EXAM Any calculator EXCEPT the TI-Nspire. You MAY NOT use a TINspire in any exam in this course. Bring BATTERIES. One 8.5” x 11” sheet of HAND-WRITTEN notes, both sides permitted Colored markers, highlighters 10 FORBIDDEN DURING EXAM No TI-Nspire calculators. If you have one out, your exam score will be ZERO. No sunglasses No watches No headsets No hats No bathroom breaks No phones: must be off, no vibration, and not on your person. Must be in closed purse or zipped backpack. Cannot be in a pocket at all. If your phone is out, it’s an automatic ZERO on your exam. No substitutes No Power Point, Word or other nonhandwritten information on note sheets No backpacks, purses, notes on unoccupied seats No stapled note sheets: you may not staple two one-sided notes to make “one” note sheet No sharing of calculators 11 No questions about anything other than a possible mistake or typo. Examples of questions that must not be asked: How can I do this <insert> in my calculator? Which formula should I use? What is the difference between X and x? What is the difference between F(x), f(x), and p(x)? Any other question that can be categorized as “How can you help me with this exam question? Do not ask proctors or TAs questions during the exam. EXAM ANSWERS 12 • You will turn in only the answer sheet. You will take the questions with you when you leave. • Failure to follow the directions on how and where to put your answer will result in no points on that question. • There is only one correct answer for each multiple choice. If you don’t see a correct answer, select the answer closest to yours. • If you circle more than one answer on a multiple choice question, or if your answer is unclear for any reason, you will not receive credit for that problem. • For full credit on partial credit problems, you must show proper notation. If the random variable’s name is T, use T and t, not X and x. • Designate random variables as uppercase letters by underlining them like we do in class. • Where a non-integer answer is required, answer to four decimal places. TIME’S UP 13 • If you finish your exam before 5:45 pm, give it to a TA. You can leave after that. • If you are still working when time is called, put pen/pencil down, hold your answer sheet in the air. Failure to do so will result in an Academic Integrity Policy violation and you will receive a ZERO on the exam. • The TAs will collect your exams from you while you are seated. IEE 380 PENALTIES 24 If you are caught ENGAGING IN or HAVING ENGAGED IN a violation: 1. You will receive a ZERO on the exam 2. You will be additionally sanctioned with one full grade demotion in the course 3. Your violation will be reported to the dean’s office where it remains in your record until you graduate or until you violate ASU’s academic integrity policy again (then you will be dismissed your degree program).
