Joint Movements: Describe an everyday action that uses the following joint movements:

Follow the descriptions and perform the joint movement actions to answer
the following questions. Remember that all of these actions must start from
anatomical position.
1. Abduct both arms more than 90 degrees. Pronate the hands. Demonstrate
flexion at both wrists. Show extension at the right hip exactly 90 degrees.
Flex the knee. Hold position for 15 seconds.

2. Rotate at the hips so toes are in the most lateral position. Flex at both
knees. Pronate both hands. Abduct both arms. Flex at the left arm and touch
the ball and socket joint closest to your left hand. Supinate your right hand.
Slightly flex at the right elbow. Hyperextend your right wrist.

3. Stand in anatomical position. Abduct both arms more than 90 degrees.
Hold pose then continue. Pronate both hands. Flexion at both elbows. Hold
pose then continue. Extend both elbows. Demontrate abduction of the torso
to the right. Hold pose then continue. Demonstrate adduction of the torso to
anatomical position. Abduct both arms until palms are touching superior to
the head.

4. Stand in anatomical position. Extension of both arms. Supinate both
hands. Pronate your right hand. Pronate your left hand. Supinate your
right hand. Supinate your left hand. Demonstrate flexion at the right

Demonstrate flexion at the left elbow and touch the nearest right side
ball and socket joint. Abduction of both arms with flexion at the
elbow and touch your head. End with circumduction at the waist.

5. Stand anatomical. Abduct both arms. Supinate left hand and show
flexion at left elbow to nearest ball and socket joint. Hold position.
Show flexion at the right elbow to 90 degrees. Rapidly pronate and
supinate right hand while at the same time protracting and retracting
the head.
