CASE DESCRIPTION:
Ariadne visited the doctor Rodriguez office because she has been feeling weak and she is not
sleeping well at nights. Ariadne’s weight is lower than normal but her energy levels are usually
normal. She participates in physical exercises and play in the school team of volleyball. Ariadne
seems to be having most difficulties when she visits her grandparents’ farm. Going to the field
makes her complain of some headaches, rashes and cold at night. Lately, she is presenting a
more severe rash with an increased congestion in her chest. Upon blood testing the doctor
found an increased level of white blood cell count and histamine levels. Her mother informed
that her sister does not present the same affections.

CASE DESCRIPTION:
The first-time Michael visited the doctor he was afraid for the rapid weight loss associated to his
new diet. Michael wanted to look strong and powerful and thus started a protein only diet and
frequently visited the gym for some lifting. Michael enjoy riding his Harley with his friends. The
guys ride the island main road smoking their tobaccos and showing their tattoos like big boys.
The diet does not seem to be working because Michael is actually losing weight, and his coughing
has actually increased. Michael complained during his last visit of coughing blood and to have
strong chest pain. The doctor ordered an immediate X-ray, and a blood sample. Michael does not
show an increased white cell count, nor increased histamine levels. However, the chest X-rays
show an unclear mass and the doctor ordered a biopsy to determine the composition of the mass.

CASE DESCRIPTION:
Robert had to visit the doctor more frequently in the last month because he feels a lack of
energy beyond his normal, although he is decreasing the number of cigarettes that he smokes
on a daily basis. Robert looks pale and thin, and the doctor is worried that he may be smoking
more than he actually says. Now, Robert has more mucus in his lungs, and he is getting more
bacterial infections from a combination of different bacteria. Although Robert chest congestion
is not accompanied with wheezing, or lack of sleep, he still feels his chest tight, and he can’t run
to catch the bus if he needs to. Robert does not have headaches, and the doctor recommended
him a special diet to increase his body weight. Robert needs to quit smoking because his life
expectancy will decrease drastically if his disease continues to gets worst.

CASE DESCRIPTION:
Patricia is a hard worker often completing extended hours of work. Patricia sometimes skip
meals and sleep hours because she loves her work. Lately, Patricia is suffering from headaches
and she started to feel tired more frequently than she used to. Patricia’s job does not imply
strong noises but she thinks the dust and fumes from the particulate matter from foam cutting
is making her feel tired. Patricia is worried that she might have developed an allergic reaction to
the foam. Upon medical test Patricia does not show increased levels of histamine, but she does
show blocked sinuses and nose passages. Patricia’s last visit required a medical leave for her
work because she has sore throat, shortness of breath and she complains of wheezing sound,
and persistent cough that does not allow her to sleep well. Patricia’s is being examined at the
hospital.

CASE DESCRIPTION:
Johan health condition has been deteriorating slowly. Johan has been a very healthy boy
participating in sports and music activities in his life. Johan likes to travel but lately he is having
indigestion problems that are limiting his travels. In addition, he has been presenting cold sores
more frequently that he has shown before. Johan spends a lot of time on water activities and
the doctor think he is not being careful and he is staying with wet clothes for long time. Johan
started having a bad cold that fades and comes back but does not quite seem to go away. The
frequency of infections, however, is something that puzzles the doctor and he ordered an x-ray,
blood and fecal samples. The blood test came positive for increased infections but not
associated to allergic reactions. The fecal test shows the presence of a thick mucus. The doctor
ordered a medical test and he is waiting for the results.

CASE DESCRIPTION:
Rosaline was born with a close to normal body weight but she had to stay at the hospital few
days as she was premature. Rosaline was release from the hospital few days after as she rapidly
increased in weight. Rosaline has stayed home most of the time enjoying life and games with
her older brother. Her parents visited the hospital recently because Rosaline has some difficulty
breathing and she has lost her appetite. Rosaline has been sick for few days and she cries a lot
probably as a result of the headaches. The doctor gave the parents some cold medicine and
send them home. Unfortunately, Rosaline does not seem to be getting any better, and she now
has some shivering and wheezing sound when she breathes. Rosaline parents came back to the
hospital where the doctors checked Rosaline chest and found out Rosaline is having a bloody
sputum and a rapid heartbeat. The doctors hospitalized Rosaline immediately to make other
test.
