Introduction
This is an article titled, “15 Tips to Tame Your Stress” from psychcentral.com website.
I have chosen this article because stress is a contemporary issue and a common
problem that affects almost all of us at some point in our lives. This article would
provide our adult learners with some basic information on stress and some simple
recommendations for dealing with it. Health topics are listed from the most commonlysearched among internet users, so I think that the students would find it interesting and
useful in terms of finding some tips on how to deal with stress. The article is
appropriate for intermediate- level students. Most of the text’s lexis is within the
students’ present competence. I will pre-teach the most needed vocabulary for the
overall comprehension of the text. The rest of the unfamiliar lexical items can be
guessed from the context.
Aims
Main Aim (receptive): by the end of this lesson, students will have developed their
skills of reading for gist and details in the context of dealing with stress.
Subsidiary Aim (productive): by the end of this lesson, students will have had the
opportunity to practice their speaking skills using the new vocabulary in the context of
dealing with stress.
