RESEARCHING THE PATTERNS IN THE
PERIODIC TABLE
• Go to ptable.com and click on the properties tab at the top
• Go to goo.gl/oZ6gqB
• Our aim is to fill the spreadsheet with all of the information we need
• Pick an element (of the first 50) and a property (see the different sheets at the bottom of the
excel page) and use ptable to find the value of the property for that element.
• Put that information into the spreadsheet and watch as the graphs start to show patterns
• Once the graphs are complete, try to analyse them as a scientist would, what patterns can you
see, and what does that tell you about the periodic table?
