Chloride® Alpha family of rectifiers have all the functionalities
required to charge lead (Pb) batteries to ensure the longest
possible service life. They cover the most common direct
voltages of 12 Vdc to 240 Vdc. Their rating offers power at a
comfortable level of use and is suitable for systems with
extended autonomy.
Cooling by natural convection.
Operation up to 50°C.
Simple programming using switches
(operating mode, battery type).
Built-in boost function for fast battery
charging.
Static stop on dry contact.
Possible to adjust voltage and current
with external potentiometer.
Interfacing with Chloride® Quartz

The products are designed to be installed in a cabinet or switchboard and, alongside batteries, can
act as direct supplies to back up sensitive components for continuous processes (PLC, coils, valves,
etc.). They can also be configured for power supply with an adjustable output voltage.
Chloride® Alpha chargers can be combined with Chloride® Quartz supervisor, thereby offering the
user total freedom in terms of battery parameters, monitoring and measurements. Chloride® Quartz
supervisor input and output board provides the interface with the automatic monitoring and
protection control systems.

FUNCTIONS
Battery current limitation
It is strongly recommended to limit the battery charge current to 10 % of its Ah capacity for lead batteries. Chloride®
Alpha chargers have an independent current setting for the battery, so that the current can be adjusted at the battery
regardless of the current consumed by the use. A potentiometer situated on the front face is used for this setting.
Output voltage adjustment
Even though Alpha rectifiers are preset for common batteries, it is possible to correct output voltage by +/-5 % by means
of a potentiometer located on the front panel.
Boost
Chloride® Alpha chargers have a Boost function that increases the charging voltage by 3.8 % for a few hours to speed
up the battery charging process. It is activated by connecting two terminals of a connector.
Static stop command
Alpha rectifier can be stopped by a remote contact. This static stop is activated by strapping two connector
terminals.
Voltage and current settings with
external potentiometer
Alpha rectifiers voltage or current can be driven, by an external potentiometer. Settings cover the range from 0 to
100 % of the nominal current, and from 0 to 125 % of the nominal voltage.
Signalling
Status of the charger is indicated by a LED and a dry contact summarizes faults.
