Chapter I - Introduction
In this chapter, the researcher introduces and discusses the topic of the project
and provides a brief introduction and specifies the problem of the study, purpose of the
project, statement of the problem and objectives, and the scope and limitations of the
study.
Project Context
As of today’s generation, technology is very much needed because it is used
by our society. The digital information revolution has brought about profound changes in
our society and our lives. Some of the digital information are also generated new
challenges and new opportunities for innovation. Technology refers to the collection of
tools that make it easier to use, create, manage and exchange information. In the earlier
times, the use of tools by human beings was for the process of discovery and evolution.
Technology refers the knowledge and utilization of tools, techniques and systems in
order to serve a bigger purpose like solving problems or making life easier and better.
Humans power it also to accurate output and less time which is needed in our
todays living to speed up the transactions. The rapid growth of technology contributed a
lot when it comes to the progress of all classification of industry. Nowadays, the use of
technology has been an effective tool on improving establishments. Most of
establishment, customers, and users are in favor of improving the processes by the use
of technology systems. Most of the establishments, such as supermarkets, malls can’t
experience errors and other technological inconvenience because they are using a
computerized system that has accurate result. Which provide good benefits both
customers and owners. Technology changes the perception of many people on how to
live their lives. Most business uses technology to speed up the process and meet the
demands of the customer. Computerized system such as POS is the solution for
business transaction to avoid errors.
Richard Breitmeyer (2015) Technology refers to the collection of tools that
make it easier to use, create, manage and exchange information. In the earlier times,
the use of tools by human beings was for the process of discovery and evolution.
Technology refers the knowledge and utilization of tools, techniques and systems in
order to serve a bigger purpose like solving problems or making life easier and better. It
takes more effort and physical space to keep track of paper documents, to find
information and to keep details secure. When mistakes are made or changes or
corrections are needed, often a manual transaction must be completely redone rather
than just updated. With manual or partially automated systems information often has to
be written down and copied or entered more than once. Systemization can reduce the
amount of duplication of data entry.
Most companies are still using the manual process in their cashiering and
inventory sales and most of their process are not very accurate because of its slow and
long process and some of company encounter this with their manual process. Most
manual processes are encountering the problem that difficulties in finding data often
missing.
There are advantages in implementing of Point of Sales System such as
facilitating the computation of sales and minimizing errors. Even the smallest business
need to implement some form of inventory control system to keep an accurate
merchandise count, as well as for accounting purposes. Business owners generally
have a choice between using computerize or a manual inventory system. Point of Sale
technology includes advance inventory management capabilities. From tracking a
products quantity on hand to setting up reorder triggers and a retail matrix, POS
software is going to save you hours of inventory management each week. And the best
part is your POS system will also give you real time inventory data.
Point of sale is a system often used by companies with cashiering and
inventory transaction to properly manage inventory and to facilitate the transaction.
Point of sales helps to count the accounting process such as account receivable,
account payable, sales, profit. Because the manual process is difficult because of many
receipts, but with a POS system, you can print reports and in many cases import data
directly with accounting software.
Point of Sale systems provide a business with a real-time detailed report of
sales. This allows businesses to assess what products are being sold and what
products are lagging in sales and provides the latest sales reports for the day, week,
month, or year. It provides an efficient method of managing inventory. By being able to
view in real time what is selling, they will be able to reorder products that are running
low.
Purpose and Description of the Project
The proposed of Point of Sale with Account Receivable, Accounts Payable
System is to speed up their work transaction and improved the computation process of
accounting easily and to properly manage their inventory to avoid losing product for
Boostik VNJ marketing and create system to replace the current system to reduce their
daily errors encountered by the said establishment.
The result of this study is significant to the following.
Manager. The study is significant to the supervisor that can view the
inventory sales records of the store. The system can help the Manager to
manage the sales and inventory.
Employees/Staff. The study is significant to the employee to provide
easy way to record a data sales and inventory.
Client/Customers. The study is significant to the customer to be
convenient in buying products and can get good customer service.
Researchers. The study is significant to the researcher
Other Readers. The study is significant to the readers is to use as
reference for future studies projects.
