K.CC Race to the Top
Task
The teacher will need a sheet of 1 inch graph paper turned sideways (horizontally) with
the numbers 0-9 written one in each box in the bottom row along the 11” side of the
paper (one copy per student) and a 10 sided number die (0-9) or a 0-9 spinner.
The student rolls a number using the die or spinner and writes that number in the next
box of the corresponding column. Students start at the bottom of the page and work
to the top. Each time the student rolls/spins a number he/she will write the number on
the paper in the next corresponding box. The winning number is the first to make it to
the top of the paper. Students can also work in pairs.
