Microscopes Parts and their functions 1. Stage: place where the object to be magnified is put 2. Stage clip: holds the microscope slide and cover slip in place 3. Light source: reflects light through a hold in the stage onto the object 4. Objective lenses: refract light from the object to form a large, upside down image 5. Eyepiece lens: refracts light from the objective lens and turns the image the right way up and enlarges the appearance of the image 6. Focusing knobs: controls the sharpness and clarity of the image 7. Base: bottom part of the microscope which keeps it steady
