To succeed in today’s workforce, I believe a person should have good communication skills,
good work ethic, the ability to adapt, job knowledge and management skills. Good
communication skills give you a better chance to get a job interview and get hired because you
have to be able to sell yourself to a potential employer to get the job. Good communication
skills will improve job performance improves because you will be able to discuss problems in
the workforce, request information about a tasker, work in teams and interact with coworkers and
clients. Lastly, a person with good communication skills will get promoted faster in the
workplace because their ability to think for themselves and to solve problems. A second skill to
have in today’s workforce is a good work ethic because it promotes dependability, good
professional behavior, adaptability and positive attitude. A person who is dependable will
always be at work on time and be able to get the job done. Promoting a good professional
behavior by abiding by rules and being friendly to co-workers and clients. The third skill to have
in today’s workforce is the ability to adapt to demands and changes in the workplace. A person
who is able to adapt to the workplace is open to new ideas and handles unreasonable job
demands well. A fourth skill to have is keen job knowledge of responsibilities and staying
abreast of changes to the job within a business. The last skill to have is good management skills
because a person will be able mentor coworkers, promote teamwork and be a role model to other
coworkers.
