General Dewey Willson (1825­1889)
The African is bought by General Willson
Later the African is killed by General Willson and his baby becomes Willson's slave
The American Civil War (1861­1865)
September 1931
David Willson starts a diary; He starts college the following day
October 1931
David Willson meets Bennett Bradshaw
March 1932
David and Bennett apply for housing together
April 1932
Announces to his parents he will be roommates with a black man
November 1934
Bradshaw's mother dies; He has to take care of his underage siblings
January 1935
Bradshaw starts working at the Socitey
June 1935
David graduates; He starts working as a reporter
August 1935
David write an ideological article that he sends to Bradshaw
July 1936
David meets Camille

David and Camille get married
February 1938
Camille gets pregnant

Then go back to Sutton where the men on the porch capture Bradshaw, humiliate him,
torture him...
