Question: What is the “Thought Police”? How are they different from the Police Patrol?
Comment: The Thought Police are the monitoring police that monitor people, and may try to
control part of it but first plan and investigate. Police Patrol is more spending out and Patrol the
thought police doesn't patrol often out the streets.
1. Who’s here (in the story), how are they connected, and what are they like?
Winston - The main character of the story, investigating while being In-cognitive while against the Big
Brother, he is hated by his own society towards being suspicious of him.
O'Brain - Co-worker of Winston, Dark-Haired.
The Thought Police - They are part of government, and protecting the Party
The Party - One who wants to destroy and take all power of London, a "Communist one."
Big Brother - The Face of the Party, the person who runs the Party."Big brother is watching you" is their
slogan.
2. What kind of place is this?
London's (England Territory) of Oceania at the London Airstrip, unpleasing place to live in, as
such the streets were dark and probably this is at nighttime. Remember the Government Controls
you if you step on their land or decide to live there, you have less rights than any other typical
society.
3. What’s the trouble?
Winston goes deep through Big Brother and risks over investigating, resulting that may be punishable by
death according to the Government as the thought police caught you, which Winston want to end the
party and big brother and change part of the thought police in order the society back in place, but it will
be near-impossible, so he needs to come with a plan.
