I worked on Following Plant Areas as a Chemical Plant Operator.
OPERATING EQUIPMENTS AT AMMONIA PLANT
 FUEL AND FEED GAS KNOCK OUT FASCILITY
Feed gas system and fuel gas system is supplied through Feed gas knock out drums and
pressure is normally controlled at 590 - 595 PSIG.
 NATURAL GAS BOOSTER COMPRESSOR
Natural Gas is compressed to 605 psig by Natural Gas Compressor, A single stage
compressor. The compressor is driven by 1140 HP Solar design gas turbine. The exhaust of
the gas turbine routs to Primary Reformer as combustion air.
 HYDROGENATOR & DESULPHURIZER
Sulfur is removed by passing the hot feed gas through a bed of NiMo, Zinc Oxide, and
Copper based catalyst, both catalyst beds are operated in series. NiMo converts organic
sulfur to inorganic sulfur and Zinc Oxide removes sulfur compounds. The Operating
temperature and pressure is 550PSIG 5300F.
 PRE-REFORMER
Pre-reformer is a fixed bed adiabatic reactor filled with highly active Nickel based steam
reforming catalyst operating at 520PSIG and 9300F. It shares 25-30% load with primary
Reformer.
 PRIMARY REFORMER
Foster Wheeler Balanced Draft Furnace Tubular Reformer to produce Hydrogen by steam
reforming of Natural Gas. Having 392 Tubes and 240 Burners. Operating at 500PSIG and
14300F.
 SECONDARY REFORMER
This is an Auto thermal Natural Gas Reformer having NiO catalyst. Air and steam are
injected to it at about 510 PSIG and 1100 - 1150 oF into an internal burner, along with
Primary Reformer effluent.
 WASTE HEAT BOILERS
There are 02 waste heat boilers which recover process heat and produce 900 &
600 PSIG Steam. 900PSIG Steam is generated in a Waste Heat Boiler having
Capacity of 375KP/hr. 600PSIG Steam is generated in a waste heat boiler having
a total capacity of 250KP/Hr.
 PROCESS AIR COMPRESSOR
Air is supplied to the process with a gas turbine driven centrifugal compressor which is
driven by a Gas Turbine. The air, taken from the atmosphere through a filter, is
compressed in four stages to a pressure of about 500 PSIG.
OPERATING EQUIPMENTS AT UTILITIES PLANT
 REVERSE OSMOSIS (R.O)
Two staged three RO lines with combine capacity of 250 m3/hr
 CLARIFICATION
A Clarifier is used to Remove Suspended Solids from 1300m3/hr. Canal Water.
Turbidity is removed by sedimentation.
Coagulation with Ferrous Sulfate.
Flocculation with Polyelectrolyte.
 DEMINERALIZATION
There are 04 Demineralization trains having total run length of 750 kilo gallon each at
flow rate of 250 gallon/minute
 LIME KILN
A vertical, Natural gas fired, induced draft Furnace used to convert Lime Stone (CaCO3)
into Quick Lime(CaO) at 600 0C. It has PLC based Control System.
 FILTRATION
There are 04 Pressure type sand filters operating at a pressure of 15kg/cm2 to remove
suspended solids from water. Cooling tower make up water system There are 02 Motor
driven centrifugal double suction pumps with the capacity of 900M3/Hr each.
 LIME SLACKER
It is a batch slacker to convert Quick Lime (CaO) into Lime Water (Ca(OH)2) for temporary
hardness removal . It has a total capacity to produce 1000Kg/Hr.
 COOLING TOWER
Induced Draft, Counter Flow having six cells & circulation water capacity of 80,000GPM.
Sulphuric Acid, Sodium Hypo Chlorite & Buckmen Chemical dosing facilities.
Three Centrifugal cooling water circulation pumps having capacity of 16000GPM each.
SAFETY AWARENESS & SPECIAL SKILL:
