Concealed Weapons on Campus
Introduction
Concealed carry is an issue that has received mixed reactions in our society today. A concealed weapon is a weapon, typically a hand gun which some one keeps hidden on their person or in the vehicle. The concealed weapon may not necessarily be a lethal one, like pepper spray. Concealed carry has effects on the people on campus such as safety, crime and maintaining welfare and respect on campus.
Effects of Concealed Carry
Concealed carry guarantees the safety of the people on campus (Simmons,2017).
Concealed weapon carriers will feel safer knowing that they have a weapon on themselves because criminals will always have a weapon and try to use it to disrupt the tranquility of the campus. One will be able to defend one’s self from any sort of danger if one is carrying a concealed weapon. For example, students will be free to study on campus till late and will not be afraid of going to their places of residence late in the night. On the other hand, safety of the people on campus will not be ensured since everyone on campus possesses a weapon.
If incase a student or lecturer has a problem with the other, one will not think about any other solution but using one’s weapon to solve the problem. A massacre or blood-bath eventually becoming the end result of this situation.
Crime is one of the main points that is used on either side of the argument.
Concealed carry on campus prevents crime since everyone is able to defend one’s self from any sort of attack or assault. If an armed lecturer or student is being robbed, one will use one’s weapon to safeguard which ever property being stolen. One can as well use the weapon to scare away criminals by threatening them hence reducing or eliminating the occurrence of crime on campus. On the contrary, concealed carry increases the rate of crime with in campus because there will not be a difference between armed civilians and armed assailants. Crimes such as theft, rape, and assault will be at their peaks since everyone has a weapon at one’s disposal to do whatever one pleases. For instance, if one student who is in possession of a weapon does not have money, one will be compelled to steal money from a fellow student. Therefore, increasing the levels of crime with in campus.
Concealed carry maintains welfare and respect on campus since everyone possesses a weapon. One will not even think of disrespecting the other because one knows that everyone is armed. Concealed carry instills fear, discipline, and respect among the people on the campus premises. For instance, gangs around the campus will always respect the others because they have weapons that they can use to punish whoever disrespects them hence maintaining welfare and respect on campus. However, concealed carry can as well disrupt the welfare and respect within campus because whoever possesses a weapon will always think that one is above the law and one can do whatever one wants. Possession of weapons on campus instills a notion that one is immune to the law therefore disorganizing the welfare and respect on campus.

Conclusion
It can be concluded that concealed carry should not be accepted in campus because most of the students on campus are below the age of 25. Students’ brains are believed not to have developed fully hence impairing one’s emotional and psychological judgment. If need be, only the responsible students, lecturers and security personnel should be allowed to possesses weapons.
