Running head: READING PEOPLE FROM THEIR LOOKS AND BEHAVIOUR Reading People from Their Looks and Behaviour Sana Duhaiby 1310434 Dar Al-Hekma University Malakeh Itani 29.10.2014 1 2 READING PEOPLE Reading People from Their Looks and Behaviour One might think that analyzing people’s personalities is hard to do. The term ‘do not judge people by their cover’ might not be completely true after all. People’s behavior can be predicted analyzed and read. Analyzing people is not about judging them more than it is about understanding them. Dimitrius and Mazzarella (1999) suggest that first impressions always say a lot about a person’s personality. Physical appearance itself can say a lot about a person. The authors also agree that everyone notices the boy with the wild tattoo, or the girl with the dyed hair. Unfortunately reading people is not that easy. The authors stated however the traits, appearance and body language helps you start. Both the authors believe that there is a thin line between appearance and body language which people often get confused with. The authors proved that appearance is the way a person looks in his or her style of clothing or hair colour, but eye contact and expressions are in the body language category. It is a bit confusing because sometimes the movement of the eye might be both appearance and body language. Looks are always important in trying to understand or read a person (Dimitrius & Mazzarella, 1999). Benedict, E. L. & Benedict, R. P (2009) suggest that Looks matter in people’s behavior, for example overweight people are usually good in social skills. The authors also say that the reason for that is overweight people need something to break the barrier that they feel uncomfortable about their looks. After the research I came out with people who are insecure about the way they look always try to break the barrier with social skills and a sense of humor. That is measured on a lot of people. Benedict, E. L. & Benedict, R. P. (2009) also agree that people who are in their physical appearance petite are most likely to be a dreamer and a READING PEOPLE 3 visionary with more of an inside activities than outside activities. People can be read or analyzed by their physical appearances. Dimitrius and Mazzarella (1999) stated actions speak louder than words. The authors said that every person’s behavior can be predicted because of their actions. The authors proved that you can tell people’s behavior by the way they treat people they see every day. The authors agree on when one treats people of no importance in his life like the clerk, receptionist or waiter with an attitude but treat friends and close people in a well-mannered matter that means the person is not easily trusted and probably has poor judgment. The way people roll their eyes in a conversation say a lot about them it can either be a habit or can mean that they are not interested or so (Mazzarella & Dimitrius 1999). People’s behavior is something to be carefully observed especially when you’re looking for a friend or a partner. Reading people does take time since you have to observe every move the person makes and analyze according to your observation. It is not easy nor hard, it is only a matter of patience and knowing what every move means. Reading people is not a study it’s also a person’s normal instincts towards another. 4 READING PEOPLE References Benedict, E. L., & Benedict, R. P. (2009).
