Introduction
Background of the Study
The Philippines is advancing in terms of economic status. There are many factors that
contribute to the advancement of the country’s economy. One of which is putting up small or
large scale business. Small scale business is privately owned either by a sole proprietor,
partners or corporators which hires small number of employees and receives a lower volume of
sales. Whereas, large scale business are big business companies that needs large capital and
employs large number of employees. Large scale business includes big corporations,
educational institution, malls and other large companies.
Heath. C. & Sitkin. S.B. (2001) defined organizational behavior as a field of study that
investigates the impact that individuals, groups and structures have on behavior within
organizations, for the purpose of applying such knowledge towards improving an organization’s
effectiveness. The performance of the employee is influence by several factors such as
dissimilar cultures of a particular individual or group, the level of educational system, the
building of psychological status, the balancing of work-life conflicts, managing workforce
diversity and others.
These factors greatly contribute to the mood of the environmental
workplace.
In the operation of educational institution small or large scale involve sensitive consideration
in the behavior of the school employees. One of the factor that influence an effective school
operation is the psychological aspects of the employees which includes human relations, good
decision making, stable emotion, healthy relations with the peers and wider tolerance to stress.

Another factor that is essential was expressed by Danish & Usman. (2010). The rewards which
includes financial compensation, benefits, promotions and incentives which provide satisfaction
to employees. Also, the recognition on the other hand, described how organization evaluates
the work of employees and how much appreciation is gained by the employees in return.
Moreover, Landy (as cited in Schidmt, 2007) mentioned that training and development are set
of planned activities in order to improve job knowledge and skills and to align employees
attitudes and behaviors with the goals of the organization and the requirements of job.
In business, there is a huge amount of different kind of people that has a different kind
of personality and intelligence who work together every year in the same organization and they
should work as one in the business. Organizational behavior is important in the business
because it helps to increase the effectiveness and it can create a healthy and good flow in the
organization. Having goodwill in an organization is a big impact to the business because they
can motivate one of each people in the organization to achieve the objectives quickly. It could
be helpful if the individual or group of people work together in the business has a good
communication or relationship because it can improve their attitudes and how they act in an
organization because it would be the way to lead them in the higher efficiency and being
organize in an society can lead them to a successful organization. They acquire most of the
material possessions from organizational and die as members of organization and the study of
organizational behavior in the business can greatly clarify the factors that affect how the
managers manage the people in organization and it can see if they work properly because they
have
a
multiple
of
people
in
an
organization.

Organizational behavior is a study that is very interesting and challenging. It is about
learning the behavior of an individual or a group in an organization. This is oriented towards

organizational objectives. In fact, organizational behavior integrates both personal and
organizational objectives, so that both are achieved simultaneously. For the school faculties
want to accomplish their objectives/goal, organizational behavior is concerned with people
thoughts, feelings, emotions and actions in setting up a work. It is essential in achieving an
effective and efficient management. It is based on the needs and motivations of a potential
individual to be independent, creative, predictive, and capable of contributing positively to the
objective of the organization.
This study focuses on the organizational behavior for purpose of knowing how individuals,
groups, or employees are affected by behavior within organization. Non-identical culture, beliefs
and tradition of an individual conduce to encounter problem within a certain business or
institution.
Statement of the Problem
The study aims to identify impacts of the Organizational Behavior of SHS Faculty in
Universidad de Sta. Isabel in Naga City.
This study will seek to answer the following questions:
1. What are the factors that influence the behavior of the Senior High School
faculty?
2. What organizational behavior Senior High School Faculty needs to be
motivated to perform the best of their ability?
3. What are the difficulties that affect the performance of the Senior High
School Faculty in a Universidad de Sta. Isabel with dissimilar cultures?

Scope and Delimitation
The study focuses on the teachers of Universidad de Sta. Isabel. The research sample is
consisting of twenty-six (26) Senior High School teachers. The primary data gathering
method will be conducted through an interview and a questionnaire survey that will
determine their behavior in the educational institution. The study is delimited to a group of
teachers in Senior High School Department with twelve (12.) male and fourteen (14.)
female subject teachers. The data gathering will start on the 2nd week of January 2017. This
study will not look into the teaching strategies and lesson plans of the faculty members and
the interior designs of the faculty room. Moreover, it will not cover their respective salaries.
This will be delimited only on how they behave in the institution, how they interact with
their co-teachers and the factors that influence their behavior as a teacher in the university.

Significance of the Study
The study of Organizational Behavior of the university faculty will be a paradigm for the
students to analyze the experiences of the faculty members neither as an individual nor group.
The result of the study will serve as a baseline for the;
Human Resource – Administrators and staff to enhance employee’s behavior and promoting
good work relationship.
To the Guidance Officials, this study will help them to understand different behaviors and
attitudes of students as well as their co-employees in the institution.
To the Director of Senior High School, the result will be of help in updating the faculty
inventory behavior.
To the Faculty of the Senior High School Department, this study will be useful for treating
faculty recognition and maintaining ethical standards.
To the students, the result of this study will be a benefit for them to be prepared for their
future careers, dealing with their problems and opportunities.
To future researchers, this research will help to uncover critical issues that can affect the
organization and it will also serve as a future reference for researcher on the subject of human
resources.
