SKIT: Developmental Psychology Chapter 9 In this activity you and your partners will have the opportunity to learn and demonstrate your understanding concerning one of the major topic areas of developmental psychology (see below), as your group develops and presents a topic area to your peers. The presentation can be no longer than 20 minutes in duration and should be a creative but educational interpretation of the topic your group is to present. You will likely need additional resources to supplement the textbook reading. Remember that the span of your topic is cradle to grave but the group may choose to focus on a specific area of the development for specific reasons. Please talk with your instructor prior to doing this to ensure that the skit will not receive a lower grade because of material that was left out of your presentation. The group may structure itself as it deems appropriate but some suggestions are to divide the topic into different areas of development (e.g. infancy, toddler, youth, adolescence, adult) and have a person responsible for each area. It may also profit the group to have a single director that is overseeing the entire presentation and making decisions that keep the development of the skit on task, progressing toward its completion by the deadline. These are just suggestions but your group should spend its first working moments together determining how to organize the work so that each person is applying themselves and everyone is equally involved (or as near equally involved as possible) in the completion of the skit. Other key themes to bring into the content of your group’s skit include: Nature / Nurture, Continuity / Stages, and Stability / Change as well as cultural variations on the your topic.
