ELEMENTS INVOLVED IN ORTHOGRAPHIC PROJECTION DIMENSIONS OF AN OBJECT Zero Dimension - In finding the dimension of an object we need to find first the Length, Width and Height of the object. • Length, Width and Height are adjectives that allows us to indicate the volume of geometric bodies. • The Length and Width correspond to the horizontal dimension, On the other hand, Height refers to the vertical dimension. we usually express these dimensions by writing the out separated by a multiplication sign. (W x L x H) OBSERVER • A line can appear differently depending upon the position of the observer, • If the observer views the surface such that the lines of sight are parallel to the plane, he/she will see the plane as a single line. • If the observer views the surface such that the lines of sight are perpendicular to the plane, he/she see the plane in its true size and shape. There are infinite number of views where the surface will appear foreshortened. The plane will appear foreshortened in any views where the surface is neither parallel nor perpendicular to the projection plane. Plane of Projection/Picture Plane • Plane of Projection also called Viewing Plane or the Picture plane - it is the plane onto which the image of an object is projected. Plane of Projection Example: VISUAL RAYS -An infinite number of parallel theoretical projectors which emanate from an object, to form the image of the object on the projection plane. THANK YOU!!!!!!
