Description
The hero is out of place in his
ordinary world. He might be an
orphan or not know who his
parents are. Something about
the hero sets him apart from
others.
Example
Harry Potter—Harry is an
orphan who lives under the
stairs in his aunt and uncle’s
house. Strange things happen
around him, and he is treated
poorly. His status as an outcast
makes him miserable.
