3G Cluster Optimization FAQ’s 1. What is Cluster? Minimum No. sites required for the cluster? a. Cluster is a group of sites which should have minimum of three sites. 2. Why do we need polygon for the cluster? a. Polygon is calculated from -98 coverage plot. If we use the polygon we will be able to generate KPI’s only inside the polygon. Analysis needs to be done inside the polygon only. 3. What will you do, when you first get the cluster? a. First get the sitelist and check whether all sites are there in UTRAN report and all sites are transmitting or not. 4. What are the things we need to check in UTRAN report? a. Check the alarms, VSWR,RSSI , T1 status, TX/RX settings, HSTX board settings. 5. What is the general process for the cluster? a. Few slides attached at the end. 6. What do we have in Quick summary report? a. A quick report that should have Scanner, UE, and individual SC plots. b. Also give a KPI summary in the report with all the alarms, VSWR, RSSI ,etc. 7. Why do we need pilot pollution and tilt recommendations during cluster analysis? a. To check the following: b. Over Shooters. This can be seen from individual SC plots. You need to have a good reason to downtilt or not and also you need to use a good tilt tool ( for eg; Katherien tool) and check the terrain from Google Earth before recommending your tilt. c. Too many servers. Check the cause for them which can be lack of dominancy in poor RF condition at the coverage edge, or over shooters. In case of lack of dominancy in poor coverage, check the current CPICH and tilt. The CPICH should be aligned. You can uptilt if that will help to create dominancy in the area. What tool do we use for pilot pollution analysis in Atlanta? What are the plots we need for the same? 8. What is the Kit configuration for TEMS and Agilent log files? 9. Why do we need Network image for SSV/Cluster? a. To get the attributes that we don’t have in normal repository. 10. What do we have in Actix Batch file? a. Cluster polygon and a Cellref 11. When will we propose a verification drive? a. When we have a particular route in the drive where event has occurred and it is making our cluster red. We will suggest a verification drive to remove that event. b. NOTE: verification drive should be done within 48hrs of the actual tuning drive. 12. When do we do IRAT/IFHO drive? For which carrier we do IRAT drive? a. IRAT/IFHO drive is performed after cluster is green/acceptable and just before the launch of the cluster. IRAT drive is done for 1C and for other carriers, we have IFHO drive. 13. What is Layer Management? Why do we need LM strategy? a. The multi-carrier layer management principle is to efficiently balance radio resources between layers (power is the key factor). b. Idle mode traffic management between layers is the preferred method of load balancing. c. Inter-frequency Load Sharing (IFLS) should be used for load distribution at the call setup. IFHO should be minimized to reduce the amount of time UEs spend in compressed mode. d. Since UE can only scan two other non used frequencies, there is a need for neighbor strategy with the introduction of 3rd carrier and Femto cells. e. Example LM strategy – F1F2F3F4F1 (waterfall) 14. How do we define Load sharing? a. Load sharing is defined to the co-sector of the different carrier based on the LM strategy. 15. How do we define Directed Retry? a. DRetry is defined to the Co-Located GSM site. 16. How do we define Femtos? a. Femtos are defined based on the underlying carrier. If its 1st carrier, then define it based on the surrounding sites from the same RNC. 17. How do we do CPICH alignment? a. Match the Cpich to same band carrier or make it 8or 10 % of maxtxpower for 850 or 1900 resp. (Always consult ML) 18. Where do we get maxdlcapability from? a. UTRAN report Here are some slides snapshot for some more information about Cluster process .
