(3 pts) What is it for ? • It shows the process the learner went through in his apprenticeship ( it enables to see where the learner started , how much he has evolved and where he eventually stands) • It shows the learner’s progress • It informs the different stakeholders about improvement of the learner • It reflects the teacher’s work • It is a tool of the learner’s self assessment • It gives the learner a reason/ incentive for learning • It gives data to the teacher and helps him to make decisions to moderate his teaching/learning process . What should it contain ? The learner’s portfolio should contain Copies of corrected tests /exams /assignments New learning related to lexis ( how the learners grasps a new lexis ( pictures, translation , synonyms, antonyms , definitions, matching, labeling…) It shows the learners strengths through CAN DO STATEMENTS It shows areas of weaknesses and where the learner needs to work on ( these areas are related to both oral and written domains) It should contain an inventory of all the common mistakes(oral and written) It should contain the remedial work /tasks It should contain self access work
