Sheet 2 of 8 GENERAL 1.1 DESCRIPTION 1.1.1 SCOPE This specification covers the bus duct system including service entrance, feeder, plug in feeder and associated fittings which are available for the system voltages AC 1000 V, DC 1500V or less. 1.1.2 STRUCTURE A. The bus duct shall be of a sandwich type construction. It means that no air gap shall exist between bus bars except at joint part. B. The joint part of each feeder, plug in feeder and fittings shall be accessible after installation for maintenance. C. The bus duct shall be designed to withstand the short circuit strength. 1.1.3 PACKING AND HANDLING A. Bus duct products shall be packed with wooden boxes suitable for export transportation and easy to handle at site. The bus duct in wooden boxes shall be enveloped with poly-vinyl sheet for waterproof prior to finish whole packing. B. Bus duct products shall be handled carefully to prevent from damage and stored in dry clean place away from abnormal weather, dirt and water etc. 1.2 STANDARDS A. All bus duct shall be manufactured in Quality Systems which is registered by Underwriters Laboratories to ISO 9000:2000. B. All bus duct fittings and plug in units shall conform to the following codes and standards. 1. International Electrical Association (IEC): IEC60439-1, 2 “Low-voltage switchgear and controller assemblies” IEC60529 “Degrees of protection provided by enclosures (IP code)” LS Cable Ltd. Sheet 3 of 8 PRODUCT 2.1 MANUFACTURER All bus ducts shall be manufactured by nominated vendors which has ASTA/KEMA full certificates. 2.2 BASIC CONSTRUCTIONS 2.2.1 GENERAL Provide the bus duct conforming to IEC60439 and complete low impedance sandwich type bus duct system. The ampere ratings, approximate footages and fittings etc. are shown on the plans. The electrical contractor shall be responsible for routing the bus duct to coordinate with other trades. The copper and aluminum bus bars shall be suitably plated at all joint and contact surface area to insure good electrical contact and prevent corrosion in high-acting loads. B. The plate shall be done by Tin for Copper and Silver for Aluminum bus bars at all joint and contact surface. C. The bus-bars shall be hard drawn electric copper with conductivity over 99% or aluminum with conductivity over 60% LS Cable Ltd. The temperature rise at any point in the busway shall not exceed 55° C rise above ambient temperature when operating at rated load current. 2.2.3 INSULATION A. Entire length of all bus bars inside enclosure shall be insulated except at joint. B. Each bus bar shall be insulated with Class B(130℃) degree by multi layers of Polyester film or epoxy insulation. 2.2.4 HOUSING A. The bus duct housing shall be totally enclosed non-ventilated type for protection against mechanical damage and dust accumulation. B. Each of the bus duct housing shall be constructed and joined completely electrical and mechanical. C. The busway housing shall be of extruded aluminum painted with polyester epoxy powder paint to provide protection against corrosion. D. Polyester epoxy powder paint shall be applied to by an automated electrostatic process. E. Paint Color : _________ 2.2.5 JOINT A. The bus duct joint shall be of one bolt type joint with positive torque which utilizes a high strength steel bolt and disc spring to maintain proper pressure over a large contact surface area. B. The blot shall be two-headed design to indicate when proper torque has been applied and require only a standard long handle wrench to be properly activated. C. It shall be possible to remove any joint connection assembly to allow electrical isolation or physical removal of a busway length without disturbing adjacent busway lengths. D. Access shall be required to only one side of the busway for tightening joint bolts. E. Each joint kit shall allow approx.10mm adjustment in section length. 2.2.6 PLUG-IN BUSWAY LS Cable Ltd. On plug-in busway there shall be hinged cover type on each side and usable simultaneously. C. Plug in openings to be finger safe. 2.2.7 PLUG-IN UNIT A. Plug-in unit shall be circuit breaker type or fusible switch type with visible blade and the types and ratings shall be listed in Contract. B. Plug-in unit shall be completely enclosed in a sheet steel housing C. Switching device shall have positive quick-make, quick-break interrupter and interrupting rating of circuit breaker plug-in unit shall be _____ RMS symmetrical amperes D. Plug-in unit shall be mechanically interlocked with busway housing to prevent removal of unit while the cover of plug-in unit is closed 2.2.8 IP RATING The busway shall be certified IP 54 as standard for Indoor Splash Proof and IP65 for Outdoor by special sealant treatment (feeder only). TEMPERATURE RISE The bus duct shall be conform to the temperature rise limit when carrying full rated current in its poorest position as set forth in NEMA BU1, UL857. No part shall exceed a 55℃ temperature rise base on average ambient temperature. 3.2. SHORT CIRCUIT STRENGTH Short circuit rating of bus duct shall be determined according to UL857 and the bus duct shall withstand the electrical, mechanical and thermal stress under fault condition. (Appendix #1) 3.3. VOLTAGE DROP A. The voltage drop (input voltage minus output voltage) specified shall be based on the bus duct operating at full rated current and at stabilized operating temperature at 25℃ ambient. B. The three-phase, line-to-line voltage drop does not exceed 13 volts per one hundred meter at 70% power factor concentrated load, which may exist during motor. 3.4. INSULATION RESISTANCE TEST The insulation resistance between conductors and conductor to metallic housing shall be measured with D.C 500volt insulation resistance tester. All measured values should be over 20 ㏁ at room temperature. 3.5. TEST OF DIELECTRIC PROPERTIES The bus duct shall be capable of withstanding for one minute, without breakdown, the application of AC 3000V, 50Hz potential between conductors and the enclosures.
