Enhanced comfort and productivity
In addition to providing the optimal light, utilizing a complete Lutron solution also helps improve
comfort and productivity, as well as saves energy in a space.
Being able to adjust electric lights to just the right levels for the task at hand goes a long way
toward providing a comfortable area for people to work. And having one-touch control from a wall
keypad, an A/V touch screen or personal wireless remote also makes adjusting lights easy.
Lowering automated shades help control heat and glare, creating a better video environment. Plus,
our shades move smoothly and quietly, thanks to our ultra-quiet electronic drive, so their raising
and lowering isn’t distracting.
Daylight sensors also contribute to occupant comfort and productivity, as they automatically adjust
electric light levels based on the amount of daylight in the room.
Creating scenes
With a complete Lutron solution, occupants can create scenes in a space—pre-determined light
and shade levels that you can recall at the touch of a button. In a video conferencing room, for
example, there might be specific scenes for video conferencing, presentations, morning meetings,
and afternoon meetings.
Saving energy
Windows are a gateway for intense heat and light from the sun, which causes air conditioning to
work overtime. Automated shades are an easy way to block this heat gain, reducing the amount of
energy needed to cool a room. Shades can also help capitalize on the energy savings garnered by
daylight harvesting via a daylight sensor, by raising as needed.
Occupancy sensors save energy by automatically turning lights off when a room is vacated, so
lights are never inadvertently left on.

Lutron Video Conferencing Fixture Solutions
Lutron® Video Conferencing Fixture Solutions
What are video conferencing fixtures?
Lutron fixture solutions provide the right lighting quantity, quality, and angle in a video conferencing
space to ensure an excellent image. We offer two types of fixtures that are ideal for video
conferencing applications: video conference and linear recessed fixtures. Both available in
fluorescent or LED options.
Video conference indirect wash fixtures
Lutron indirect wash fixtures provide a combination of horizontal and asymmetrical vertical
illumination. The unique reflector design creates even, glare-free light distribution for participants
in a video conference and for presenters in a distance learning environment.
Why do you need to use video conference and linear
recessed fixtures?
A video camera can’t “see” the way the human eye can, so the camera often produces saturated images
or images with shadows on them, resulting in poor picture quality. Using indirect wash fixtures, which
illuminate both vertically and horizontally, helps produce images that have better contrast and sharpness.
The right combination of fixtures ensures high quality lighting on the participants, wall, and table surfaces,
and the area around the display, screen, or monitor.
ΠIndirect wash fixtures illuminate participants with vertically focused lighting
(between a 45 and 60 degree angle), minimizing shadows on their faces.
Indirect wash fixtures illuminate the tabletop surfaces horizontally, minimizing
shadows on faces and providing adequate task lighting.
Ž Indirect wash fixtures and recessed downlights illuminate the presentation area
with flexible lighting, and adjust contrast on presenters and wall displays.
Linear wall wash fixtures evenly illuminate rear and side walls from floor to
ceiling, providing good contrast between participants and the room for a
quality video image.

All Lutron fixtures include EcoSystem®-enabled dimming ballasts or drivers. By incorporating Lutron’s
preset dimming controls, the fixtures can control lighting levels, creating the ideal contrast for the camera.
Linear recessed wall wash and volumetric fixtures
The volumetric fixture is energy-efficient, fully
luminous, and provides soft ambient light. It’s
ideal for task lighting; its optical design provides
low glare and eliminates shadowing.
A linear wall wash fixture uniformly illuminates
the back and side walls in a space, providing the
proper contrast between the people in the space
and the background.

The linear wall wash fixture (left) provides uniform vertical surface lighting and is ideal for large
wall surfaces. The fixture’s reflector is designed to spread light while reducing glare.
Lutron’s volumetric fixture (right) is a cost-effective, energy-efficient, fully luminous fixture
that provides soft ambient illumination, and is ideal for conference rooms. The optical design
eliminates the shadowing that is common with many other recessed fluorescent fixtures.

Lutron® Video Conferencing Fixture Solutions
Other Lutron fixture solutions – The Ivalo® Collection
Creating a complete Lutron solution
Most video conferencing rooms are used for meetings and presentations, in addition to video
conferences. Lutron offers a variety of fixtures to provide general illumination, downlighting, and
decorative lighting, to meet all of the lighting needs in the space.
Because a video conferencing room is often used for other needs, the lighting in the space has to be
flexible. You can create a complete, flexible solution using fixtures, occupancy sensors, shades, and
controls, as shown in the layout below.
The Ivalo Collection provides functional, aesthetic solutions for high end spaces. Products include
suspended pendants, interior sconces, recessed lighting, and exterior sconces in various innovative
shapes and sizes (examples of sconces and pendants shown below).
