TRAIN WITH THE BEST
The Royal Navy is increasingly involved
in humanitarian work, not just military
operations. Your Public Services
Apprenticeship will equip you for this vital
work, and lead on to Level 3 Leadership and
Management training later in your career.
Level 2
Apprenticeship:
Public Services.
Level 3:
Leadership and
Management.
The Royal Navy is one of the UK’s largest
training organisations. Each year, around
3000 new entrants join our apprenticeship
schemes, with success rates of over 90% in
some areas. In 2008, we were runners-up in
the ‘Employer of the Year’ category at the
National Employer Service Awards, while in
February 2009, we received an ‘Outstanding’
grade for engineering
from OFSTED.

they’ll be recognised and valued by a
future employer outside the Royal Navy.

budgets and countless other resources.
The difference is that, as a Business,
Administration and Law Apprentice with

a vital mission in conflict or peacetime, and
your ‘office’ will be the whole world.

RETAIL AND
COMMERCIAL
ENTERPRISE
Retail and Commercial Enterprise
apprentices in civilian life generally work
in shops, or prepare and serve food and
drink in restaurants, bars or hotels.
In the Royal Navy, you’ll develop the same
kinds of hospitality, catering and ‘people’
skills – but in a very different, challenging
and far more rewarding environment.
SKILLS FOR LIFE
Whatever Royal Navy job you choose,
you’ll begin your career on one of our
apprenticeship schemes. We currently
have 11 level 2 programmes, covering
the same skills and knowledge,
to the same standards, as civilian
apprenticeships.
What makes ours special is that they’ll
also equip you for the special demands
of working in a Royal Navy ship,
submarine, shore base or air station.
INFORMATION AND
COMMUNICATION
TECHNOLOGY
In the Royal Navy, we rely on computers
just as much as any civilian organisation.
So we have the same need for specialists
who know how IT systems work, how to
use them and how to fix them. The only
difference is that, with us, you could be
using your skills on a warship, submarine
or shore base anywhere in the world.
