He then undertook an equine internal medicine residency at the Equine Referral Hospital at the Royal Veterinary College in London where he gained the RCVS Certificate in Equine Internal Medicine. In 2011 he gained by examination the European Diploma in Equine Internal Medicine (DipECEIM) becoming a European specialist in Equine Internal Medicine. A member of Nixon Equine ambulatory team, Philip has a specialist interest in equine internal medicine, infectious diseases, ophthalmology (three week sabbatical spent with Prof D. Brooks in Florida University) and oncology. He acts as a consultant both within the practice and to referring veterinary surgeons and has lectured on infectious diseases in both this country and abroad. Philip is also published in peer-reviewed scientific international journals.
