Warranty: The electrical designer must include the following paragraphs in the electrical section of project specifications: 1. Ballasts and lamps shall carry five-year warranties as described below, including labor allowance. Revised 4/17/09 INTERIOR LIGHTING 16510 - 2 THIS IS A DESIGN GUIDE NOT A SPECIFICATION 2. The contractor shall be responsible for replacement of all defective lamps and ballast for a period of one year from the date of acceptance. During this one year period, the contractor shall respond to the owner' s request to replace defective lamps and ballasts within one week of receipt of the request. A failure of five lamps or ballasts, or failure of any lamp or ballast in sensitive areas will cause a service call. 3. One month before the end of this one-year period, the contractor shall make a facility wide survey to identify and replace all defective ballasts and lamps. The contractor shall provide the owner written notice of this survey and warranty replacement two weeks prior to the survey. In the event that the contractor fails to accomplish this facility-wide survey to identify and replace all defective ballasts and lamp, the initial warranty shall be extended until such time as the contractor fulfills the survey requirements. 4. For the second through fifth year after acceptance, the ballast shall be covered by a full replacement warranty and a $10 per ballast installation allowance. (This is the standard warranty provided on electronic ballasts by several manufactures.) B. Removal of existing ballasts: The electrical designer must include the follow paragraph in the electrical section of project specifications: 1. DATA SHEET LX-Aluminum Designer Series High-Bay For style, functionality and energy efficiency, the LX Aluminum Dome High-Bay from Sportlite provides maximum down-light that is perfect for warehouses, gymnasiums, ice rinks, manufacturing plants or any application requiring flexible high-bay style fixtures. The LX800 with 42 watt compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) supplies an impressive 25,600 lumens and 85 percent lumen maintenance. Stylish Effect Sportlite offers a stylish alternative to standard metal reflector-type HID fixtures with the new LX800 Aluminum Dome High-Bay. Featuring an eye-pleasing aluminum ballast housing and reflector, the LX Series provides very even vertical and horizontal foot-candles, which are highly desirable for televising sporting events and providing surface light to more effectively sell products, The LX Series reduces the glare often associated with standard HID high-bay fixtures. Mood Lighting The LX Series sets the tone for any application, offering a wide variety of lamp color temperatures to create the desired effect or match existing lighting. These high-CRI (82-84) lamps produce a more natural lighting effect. The LX Series provides comfortable even light, a larger light spread, minimal shadowing and no stroboscopic effects. With maximum lumen output at 30 degrees, the LX Aluminum Dome produces and efficient “batwing” photometric configuration, which creates a very smooth lighting pattern and a favorable spacing to mounting height ratio. Smart & Functional The LX Series offers smart features for simple and safe use. Its modular construction featuring “AMP” snap lock electrical connectors and “spring-clip” secured ballasts allows easy installation and maintenance with minimal tools The “instant on” feature allows control over pairs of lamps within an individual luminaire. Choose sensor-controlled, four level stepped dimming for an efficient and inexpensive way to lower light levels and save energy without changing the photometrics. Energy Efficient The energy saving, compact fluorescent LX800 Designer High-Bay is a must-have replacement for the high energy consuming, old standard HID style high-bay fixture. Realize an average 25 to 40 percent energy savings compared to 400 watt HID fixtures. Eliminate hot spots and color shifts typical of metal halide lighting fixtures. SPORTLITE, INC.
