EQUIPMENTMONITORING Theintegrityofthemechanicalsealsystemshallbecontinuouslymonitoredduringpumpoperationandstandbytime.Twoelectrical probesshallbeprovidedinasensingchamberpositionedbetweentheprimaryandsecondarymechanicalsealfordetectingthe presenceofwatercontaminationwithinthechamber.Thesensingchambershallbefittedwithenvironmentallysafenontoxicoil.A solidstaterelaymountedinthepumpcontrolpanelorinaseparateenclosureshallsendalowvoltage,lowamperagesignaltothe probe,continuouslymonitoringtheconductivityoftheliquidinthesensingchamber.Ifsufficientwaterentersthesensingchamber throughtheprimarymechanicalseal,theprobeshallsensetheincreaseinconductivityandsignalthesolidstaterelayinthecontrol panel.Therelayshallthenenergizeawarninglightonthecontrolpanel,oroptionally,causethepumptoshutdown.Thissystemshall provideanearlywarningofmechanicalsealleakage,therebypreventingdamagetothesubmersiblepumpandallowingscheduled ratherthanemergencymaintenance.Systemsutilizingfloatswitchesoranyothermonitoringdeviceslocatedinthestatorhousing ratherthaninasensingchamberbetweenthemechanicalsealsarenotconsideredtobeearlywarningsystem,andshallnotbe consideredequal. SERVICEABILITY Thecompleterotatingassemblyshallbecapableofbeingremovedfromthevolutewithoutdisturbingthesuctionpiping,discharge piping,andvolute.Themotorhousing,sealhousingwithsealplateandimpellerstillattachedtotheshaftshallbecapableofbeing liftedoutofthevolutecasefromthetopasoneassembly.Foreaseofrepair,themotorstatorshallbesecurelyheldinplacebyanend ringsoitcanbeeasilyremovedwithouttheuseofheatorapress.Nospecialtoolsshallberequiredforpumpandmotordisassembly. Statorsheldinplacebyheatshrinkfitshallnotbeacceptable. TESTING Allpumpsshallbebuiltinadedicateddomesticfactorywithfiftyyearsofcontinuousoperation.Allpumpsshallbevisuallyinspected toconfirmthatitisbuiltinaccordancewiththespecificationastoHP,voltage,phaseandhertz.Themotorsealandhousingchambers shallbemeggeredforinfinitytotestformoisturecontentorinsulationdefects.Themotorhousingwillbefilledwithdielectricoiland shallbeallowedtorundrytocheckforproperrotation.Dischargepipingshallbeattached,thepumpsubmergedinwater,andamp readingsshallbetakenoneachphasetoverifybalancedstatorwindings.Thepumpshallberemovedfromthewater,meggeredagain, anddried.Volutescanreceivehydrostatictestingtoensurehighqualitycastingsarebeingprovided.Allpumpsshallreceivestandard HydraulicInstitute(HI)non-witnessedtestingatathird-partyagency-certifiedtestlab.Pumpmotorscanbetestedonafactory dynamometercapableofsimultaneouslymeasuringtorqueandrotationalspeed.Testingconductedoffsiteshallnotbeconsidered equalorapproved. PAINT Thepumpshallbepaintedwithwaterbornehybridacrylic/alkydpaint.Thiscustomengineered,quickdry,lowVOCpaintshallprovide superiorlevelsofcorrosionandchemicalprotection.Optionalcoatingsareavailablethroughthefactoryofchlorinatedrubber,coaltar epoxyandpolyamideepoxy.
