• Ireland and Northern Ireland RES-E targets of 40% consumption from
renewable energy by 2020
• Renewable gate processed connection policy
• RES directive requirements to minimise curtailment (Article 16)
• Zero marginal cost of wind - reduce production costs and SMP
Challenge
• Increase SNSP from 50% to 75%
• Dispatch available wind more often reducing the economic loss associated
with curtailment
• Facilitated through implementation of DS3, including system services
