Automotive Research Group
Introduction
Aim of Automotive research group is development of sustainable indigenous mobility and mobility
related solutions. The current focus is on analysis and improvement of dynamic stability of vehicles.

Research Grants and Other Achievements:
1. Development of Light weight 3-wheeled Vehicle (HEC, Pakistan grant of Rs. 6.02 Million )
2. Development of fuel efficient vehicle for Shell Eco Marathon. Achieved first position in
Pakistan level and best mileage from South Asia (2012) in Urban concept Category.
3. Held first national university level “Design Build Energize Competition” for fuel efficient vehicle
prototypes and technologies.

Composites Engineering Research Group
Introduction
NUST Composites Engineering Research Group (NUST CERG) focuses on various aspects of applied and
theoretical research in the field of composite materials, including failure and damage modeling,
Structural health monitoring, testing standards for 3D composites, product design and development,
manufacturing processes, micromechanics, wind turbine blades design and software development.

1. Sep 2010 – 2013: DFID/British Council UK - DelPHE grant of GBP 60,000/- (Rs. 8.5 Million) titled
“Capacity building for enhancing R&D in manufacturing, testing and certification of composite
materials”
2. In Process (awaiting formal approval) 2014 – 2016: HEC, Pakistan grant of Rs. 9.993 Million
titled "Developing testing standards for advanced 3D fibre reinforced polymeric composite
materials“

Mechanarium Research Group focuses on various aspects of applied and theoretical research in the
fields of computational fluid dynamics, aerodynamics, studies fluid-structure interaction (FSI) using
supercomputing, theoretical analysis, nonlinear mechanics, modeling and simulation of engineering
and industrial applications ranging from aerospace to energy efficiency to biomedical applications

Primary aim of the research group is to train students and deliver research outputs in the field of solar
thermal engineering with special focus on various solar based heating and cooling applications. Group
also emphasizes on different storage materials used for solar energy
