June 2016
Together with our donors, Gulf Coast Community Foundation transforms our region through
bold and proactive philanthropy. Through strategic community initiatives and grants, Gulf Coast
invests in the good work that effective charitable organizations and other community partners
accomplish every day. Gulf Coast also facilitates gifts from individual philanthropists wishing to
invest in the causes they care about, here in our region and around the world.
The following is a list of the community investments approved by the Gulf Coast Board of
Directors at its June 2016 meeting:
Leveraged Grants
Community Power Network - $30,000 to support Florida Solar United Neighborhoods (FL SUN),
a nonprofit program that expands access to solar by educating Floridians about the benefits of
distributed solar energy and by organizing local co-ops that make solar more affordable for
homeowners.
Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County - $25,000 to support the Health
Innovation Project, a multiyear initiative to foster and support the health and life sciences
industries in our region.
Funding for these grants come from the Venice Endowment Fund.
