Rochester Institute of Technology
Awards
Numerous colleges sponsor scholarship and/or recognition programs for students in their junior year
of high school. Juniors are encouraged to become familiar with the college itself and determine if it is
a college where they might possibly file an admissions application next year.
Rochester Institute Of Technology (RIT) Computing Medal
The RIT Computing Medal is given to one male and one female student in the Junior class who
demonstrate an interest and ability in the field of computing. The recipient is guaranteed a fee waiver for
their application along with the Computing Medal Scholarship valued at $28,000 ($7,000 per year) if they
are accepted and enroll at RIT in the fall following graduation from high school. The scholarship is not
limited to a computing-related major at RIT and may be used to support study in any undergraduate
program at RIT.
To be eligible students must:
 Have an average of 98 or higher in a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum
 demonstrate an interest and ability in the field of computing. This may be evidenced by
superior grades in computing-related classes or completion of a school or community project
that demonstrates a high level of knowledge or experience in computing.
 demonstrate leadership in school and/or community activities.
